ABOUT

Food for thought

Food does so much more than nourish us our bodies; it nourishes our souls. So we’re just doin’ the Lord’s work, you know? We’re devout believers that food and cooking should be as easy or complex as you want it to be. Most of all, it should all be fun – and at The Cook’s Station, playing with your food is a requirement.

Purpose

To serve our COMMUNITY by strengthening the bonds of its families and friendships; honoring culinary heritage and Greenville’s history; and supporting our local farmers and suppliers.

To provide CONVENIENCE without sacrificing the value of shared culinary experiences and elevated cuisine.

To EDUCATE everyone who enters our doors (no matter where you are otherwise in your culinary journey) via cooking classes; familiarizing folks with local ingredients, regional dishes, farms and vendors; and providing the tools, products and appliances you need (many you never knew existed, but then can’t live without).

To ENTERTAIN via special community-wide events; assisting you with private events; offering an eclectic retail experience with fun gifts, food stuffs and other supplies; and providing a consistently joyful, inspiring food and beverage experience every time you visit.

People

Food has the power to bring people together – in grandma’s kitchen; relaxed around a poolside grill; at the dance team’s bake sale; gathered around the dining table at home between pizza slices and homework; huddled in a new city’s coziest restaurant corner…everywhere we go (and even nowhere when we can’t “go”), food – and the act of sharing it – fills our bellies, hearts and memories.

This business is about PEOPLE.

TCS’s team of operational all-stars found their way into the right line(s) of work, given our extroverted and culinary-curious tendencies; and over the years, we’ve recruited the very best experts and professionals to expand our new and ambitious culinary-minded concept in this market.

These folks are also about the nicest humans you’ll ever meet!

Partnerships

Steve and Whitney Spinks had talked for years about developing an offer that brought together gourmet food and convenience retail in one place. They eventually approached Kelly and John Colacioppo (the veteran TCS owners) about a potential partnership. Kelly’s store on S. Main St. had been busting at the seams, and there was strong desire and demand to bring the appliance and retail stores under one roof.

The Spinkses and the Colacioppos saw Greenville growing off of Main St. for the first time in 15-20 years, and the new group of TCS partners felt the timing was right to create a neighborhood destination. The site of the former family-style Gene’s Restaurant (a beloved downtown fixture for generations) – nestled prominently in the Heritage Green Historic District – was the perfect place to put down new(ish) TCS roots.
